Generally, sandpaper with coarser sand (such as 240#, 320#, etc.) is used for sanding along the direction of the wood grain, and it cannot be sanded horizontally or irregularly to avoid leaving messy sand marks. When polishing the white billet, it is also necessary to pay attention to the protruding parts such as lines and corrugated corners not to be damaged or deformed, so as not to affect the smooth and beautiful appearance of the lines and corrugated corners.
Generally, furniture factories use large abrasive belt machines. According to the requirements of polishing surface, select the operating abrasive belt, ranging from 240 to 800, and the finest point is 1000, but such fine-grained abrasive belts are rarely used.
Putty polishing requirements are smooth and defect-free, and the polished lines must be in harmony with the lines of the white blank. Therefore, wooden blocks and other pads are often used when polishing straight faces. When polishing putty in transparent coating, pay attention to polishing the surrounding putty such as cracks, nail holes, etc., without leaving traces.
The polishing of the intermediate coating (also called interlayer polishing) can remove dust particles on the film surface, bubbles, orange lines, and sagging caused by improper operation, and can also increase the adhesion between the coatings. For sanding between layers, you can choose 320#—600# sandpaper according to your needs. The quality requirements are smooth, no bright stars, and no sand marks as much as possible, and the surface is ground glass.
